And on the 12th month, he rested

December 15, 2016

Common workaday folk,

As I sit here in my study, having just completed my Fall semester classes, I thought I would generate some correspondence. Perhaps my letter can be a welcome distraction as you labor away. It’s been nearly a week since I was a working man (Dec 8 was my last day at work for the year). Don’t fret, January 9th will be here before you know it and I’ll be back in the salt mines like the rest of you.

I figured I could provide some things to entertain you when you need a respite from your daily toils, making baubles or roasting corn or whatever people who work this time of year do.

If you haven’t checked out the Myths & Legends podcast, I suggest you do. It’s just a guy reading tales from myths, fantasy, folklore, etc. Some are stories everyone is familiar with, but with surprising origins. Others you’ve probably never heard of before. https://www.mythpodcast.com/

For those interested, the El Rey network (which I didn’t even know was a thing, much less that I get it) is showing Master of the Flying Guillotine (just called The Flying Guillotine in the guide) tonight at 11pm. The movie following it, Palace Carnage, is also known as Flying Guillotine 2, so it’s probably worth a watch as well. El Rey is 1154 for those with U-verse. For those with a satellite dish, there may be clouds, so probably best just to forget about it.

Following are some of my recent jams. Fair warning, all of the Childish Gambino selections are EXTREMELY nsfw.
Childish Gambino – Heartbeat

Childish Gambino – 3005

Childish Gambino – Sweatpants

Sia – Cheap Thrills  – I don’t know if I even like this, but it’s super catchy.

Sia – Elastic Heart – Also gets in my ear, although the video really distracts from the song.

Stay strong and sell lots of matchsticks on the street corner or whatever,

Kevin

  1. Great to hear you are hanging in there during this brief spell of underemployment. I hope the guilt is not devastating you.

I’ve added the mythpodcast to my lineup. Fortunately, I am better at getting to my podcast to-do list than my television version. Which is amazing being that I can watch TV at the highest resolutions and with the most consistent reliability and at the best rates and with the most selection because I am #smart, #winning, #MakeTVGreatAgain a DirecTV satelite-dish user. BTW, I can also watch my DirecTV lineup on my phone free of data charges because my mobile service is AT&T. #FirstWorldSolutions

I enjoyed the videos. Observations: Donald Glover is dark. When the bear first blinked, it was freaky. I like the aging of him during the video. I want to frequent that diner. Sia’s videos are rewardingly creative.
